Trigger Warning - mention of colonization, racism
Hi everyone! Welcome to Katamountain News. Please like, subscribe to, and share my newsletter. Thank you so much for supporting my work.
I have Covid-19 and it is consuming all of my energy. I had planned to write about addiction because I passed my one year anniversary for quitting smoking. Addiction is something that most people I have ever known live with, and I want to describe how it has impacted my life. It is also a topic I feel deserves some research support in addition to my personal experiences, so it may take a bit longer to craft. I hope I can write more once I’m feeling better.
Please continue to wear a mask to protect yourself and others during the pandemic. I wish you a good week and a restful weekend around the corner. Take care and enjoy today’s newsletter about Raven Rocks.
Self Reflection: Is there a time in your life when you felt proud of yourself for making a decision that kept yourself and others safe? Do you feel the people around you respect your needs with regard to health and safety?
Today I will share photos from an AMAZING creek and gorge I visited at the end of March in Southern Ohio. These special places were cared for by Indigenous people for thousands of years and that is why they are here today. The surrounding area is mostly farmland, small towns, and coal, oil, and gas extraction operations.
This place is the ancestral home of the Osage and Shawnee Nations, who were removed forcibly by settlers in this region (lower Midwestern and Central states, Ohio River Valley).
